There is still good in America

America is full of good fathers

There is still good in America, as this story shows. Sunday was Father’s Day, yet it was a couple of Father’s who were offering kindness.

I live in a small town, which probably was a contributing factor to this story, and one of the reasons I moved out of the big city, into a small town. On our way out of town I dropped my wife off at the store to pick up a couple of things, as I went to fill up the truck up with gas.

As my wife is walking through the store she keeps remembering a couple more things she needed for the day, baby wipes, a gift, and of course a copy of Hobby Farm magazine (insert eye roll emoji here). The only problem is, she didn’t grab a cart or basket. So, here she is, two arm loads of stuff and trying not to drop anything. As she is walking the aisles a man notices her double arm load of random items. He walks over to her and offers his cart to her. She says thank you, but I’m heading to the register now. Then another man sees her gripping two bags of chips, two salsas, baby wipes, gift bags, tissue, a card, and 5 magazines, and offers to go and get her a cart. Again, she says thank you, but I’m done now and heading to the checkout.

In a time when there are reports of protesters at political rallies yelling they want to kill the candidate and candidates encourage punching other protester who want to throw things on stage, we never really hear about the good people are doing. As the old saying says, America is great, because Americans are good. Maybe not as many people, but surely very large portions of Americans are good people and truly want to be good. I have quit watching most news (for many more reasons than this) because all I seem to hear is bad and negative things going on. Again, an old saying, If it bleeds, it leads. And yet, whenever we hear of a great human interest story, we all share it and even cry over it, saying how great is that.

I, for one, will start sharing the good and great stories of people helping people, and people just being good people. Let’s spend more time telling of the good stories in America and leaving the negative bad stories to the dying news networks.

America still has Greatness, let’s share it.
